Our St Paul’s Cathedral Tour takes in one of London’s most impressive attractions and then goes on to explore the true City of London. Follow your guide through maze of lanes and marvel at some original Roman architecture surrounded by the current financial heart of the city.
On this tour, save valuable sightseeing time with skip-the-line entry, head straight inside with your guide. St Paul’s Cathedral is a beautiful church with a unique history. Built in just 35 years, by one architect in a consistent style, its position in this part of the London skyline is protected by law. From the main entrance we are afforded an unobstructed view down the Cathedral, a great time to appreciate both the size and style of this Church.
We’ll explore the main floor first, which houses memorials of many national heroes, also many works of art both old and new. We then have the opportunity to climb right to the top of the Church passing, the whispering, stone and golden viewing galleries, a terrific view is your reward for the 528 you must first climb!
What goes up, must come down, right down, to the crypt. Here we will discover the final resting place of many of the heroes memorialised on the main floor, such as Admiral Nelson and The Duke of Wellington. Your guide will make sure you don’t miss two models of the Cathedral, an excellent comparison between the old Gothic structure and the “modern” English baroque version. This completes our tour of St Pauls Cathedral itself, but don’t worry theres plenty more to see.
Once outside, our St Paul’s Cathedral Tour continues. Strolling around the Churchyard gives you perspective on the size of this iconic building we just explored. Your guide will take you for one final view of St Paul’s against the modern city skyline, don’t worry we don’t have to climb any stairs this time!
We now make our way to the heart of the City, the financial district. The Stock exchange, The Bank of England, The Royal exchange are all based in the square mile. Listen to some interesting statistics about the current financial world and learn about the stories behind all these beautiful buildings.
Follow your guide through the little lanes, rows and passages that make up the oldest part of London, originally established by the Romans. The City is a wonderful place to see a mixture of architecture, from parts of original Roman walls, to brand new office blocks.
The Tour runs in all weather conditions and involves a moderate amount of walking.
