Denisa’s Top Tips for Getting the Most Out of London
Born to Guide: From the Czech Republic to London’s Most Iconic Sites
Denisa’s path to becoming one of London’s most sought-after Blue Badge Guides started long before she arrived in the capital. Growing up in the Czech Republic, she spent summers guiding visitors around Hrad a Zámek Jindřichův Hradec — one of the largest castles in the country — developing an early instinct for storytelling and a genuine love of sharing history with people from all walks of life. She went on to study Tourism Management at degree level, before making London her home and qualifying as a Blue Badge Guide in 2014, making her one of the most experienced guides on our team.
A Decade of Discovering London’s Layers
With over a decade of guiding behind her, Denisa has an encyclopaedic knowledge of London — but what sets her apart is her ability to go beyond the obvious. She loves showing visitors the well-known landmarks alongside the quieter, less-visited spots that most tourists never find. For Denisa, the best tour is one that leaves guests feeling like they’ve seen a side of the city they couldn’t have found on their own.
The Tour That Became Three
Last year, Denisa met a family of four at the Tower of London — including twin girls, eleven years old, who arrived full of questions and left full of answers. They were so engaged that they booked two more tours on the spot: the British Museum and Westminster Abbey. By the end of their stay, those girls had experienced three of London’s greatest sites with the same guide, building on each visit as they went. That kind of connection is what Denisa lives for.
When the Plan Changes — and Everyone’s Happier for It
Denisa prepares meticulously for every tour. But she also knows when to set the plan aside. On one occasion, a couple arrived for a scheduled tour and mentioned in passing that they’d love to see a London market. Without hesitation, Denisa reworked the entire itinerary on the spot, weaving in a market visit that hadn’t been part of the original booking. Reading what guests actually want — rather than sticking rigidly to a script — is one of her greatest strengths.
A Passion for the Tudors: Henry VIII and the World He Shaped
Ask Denisa about her favourite period of history and she won’t hesitate. The Tudors — and Henry VIII in particular — have fascinated her for years. His life, his court, his children, and the seismic changes he set in motion still echo through the streets and buildings of London today. At sites like the Tower of London, that passion comes alive in ways that stay with guests long after the tour ends.
Her Favourite Place to Take Guests
For Denisa, nothing beats a walk through the City of London starting at the Tower. It’s the place where Roman walls stand next to medieval churches, and where ancient stone is reflected in the glass facades of modern skyscrapers. The photo opportunities alone are extraordinary — but it’s the contrast, and the stories that sit behind it, that make it truly special.
Brilliant With Families — Especially the Young Ones
Denisa has a particular talent for engaging children on tour. Rather than simply telling them what happened, she challenges them to imagine it — to picture what daily life looked like centuries ago and to appreciate just how different, and how fortunate, life is today. Parents consistently remark that their children were engaged from start to finish. For Denisa, getting a child to ask a question they’ve never thought of before is one of the best moments a tour can produce.
Guiding in English and Czech/Slovak
Denisa guides in English, Czech, and Slovak — making her an excellent choice for guests travelling from across Central Europe who want to experience London in their native language.
A Traveller Who Guides, and a Guide Who Travels
Outside of work, Denisa loves to travel and immerse herself in other cultures. Whenever she visits somewhere new, she books a guided tour herself — and prepares for it in detail beforehand. It’s the same approach she brings to every itinerary she creates for her own guests: thorough, thoughtful, and always with the visitor’s experience at the centre of it.
Co-Founder, Let Me Show You London
Denisa co-founded Let Me Show You London alongside her husband Mark, building the company from the ground up into one of London’s most trusted private tour providers. She is both the operational heart of the business and one of its most active guides — bringing the same care and attention to every guest interaction whether she’s planning your tour or leading it herself.
